Safari Browser For Windows: A Casualty of the Browser Wars?

If you are reading this article then you are probably looking for more information regarding the Safari browser for Windows. When I started this article I went to Apple’s site for Safari and found…..nothing for Safari for Windows. Odd, I thought, since I believed that Safari was gaining in popularity, particularly over Firefox, which has been slipping in the rankings since Chrome came along.

I was curious to take a look at this browser do up a review, but I could not find a link to download it. A quick Internet search turned up article titles such as: “Apple allegedly kills Safari for Windows”  and “Did Apple just kill Safari for Windows?”
Not the kind of things you want to read as you sit down to write a review! At any rate, I did find a download link on the Apple support site (see below).
So if you are still interested in trying Safari on your Windows system you can, just be aware that Apple is probably not going to continue developing it or supporting it. Let’s take a closer look at some of the features of Safari for Windows then:

Basic Requirements

The Safari download is under 8MB in size and the installation process takes less than one minute. It runs on the Vista or XP and you will need a 500MHz Pentium CPU or better and at least 256MB of RAM. In this article I will discuss some of the best features of the Safari browser for windows.

 Speed

The Safari browser is twice as fast as Internet Explorer and almost twice as fast as Firefox, according to some reports. The Safari browser is also faster than IE and Opera 9 when it comes to executing JavaScript, rendering HTML and at launching the browser.

Features

It is true that the Safari download has one of the easiest bookmark systems going. Organizing and browsing in Safari is easier and quicker than in either Firefox, IE7 or Opera.
Apple has also managed to nail the in-line find feature and this is something which the other browsers are struggling with. After just a few seconds of using the inline find in the Safari browser you will wonder why all other applications do not work this way.
Apple allows you to easily move a tab to a new browser window and if you are online on a regular basis then you are probably already aware that it is quite easy to lose your way on the web. However with the Safari browser there is no need to keep hitting the back button because the SnapBack feature enables you to instantly snap back to your orginal search results or the top level of a website and this can help to save you huge amounts of time.
The built-in RSS reader in Safari is clearly laid out and the various tools can be easily and quickly accessed from the menu on the right-hand side.
Private browsing is another great feature of Safari which means that you can set Safari not to keep records of your surfing. This includes caching cookies, caching pages, information and history from forms. This is a very useful feature which helps you to stay safe online, particularly when you are doing online shopping or carrying out online banking activities.

Conclusion

The Safari browser means that you can enjoy worry-free web browsing on your computer and it offers the highest levels of security. It also comes with some great features such as the way you handle bookmarks and the RSS reader. You can download Safari for Windows here: : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1531
