How to Restrict Access on a Wireless Guest Account

Creating a separate account on your computer for guests to use your wireless network is a smart idea, but you would not want to provide the account with full system privileges. Creating a limited user account for your wireless guest will restrict the user's access to vital components of your operating system, preventing the guest user from changing your files and programs installed the computer (and other computers on your wireless network), keeping the integrity of your system secure.

Instructions

    • Click "Start" and click "Control Panel."
    • 2
      Click "User Accounts."
    • 3
Click "Manage Another Account" and select "Create a New Account."
    • 4
Enter "Wireless Guest" as the user name and select "Standard User" as the account type.
    • 5
Click "Create Account," creating a restricted account for your wireless guests.
